IntraSystem Article Request (ISAR)


What is IntraSystem Article Request (ISAR)?

Use the IntraSystem Article Request (ISAR) to get a copy of a journal article or book chapter when the item is available at another UH System library (and not at UH Manoa). This service is available for University of Hawaii at Manoa students, faculty, and staff.

  • For intrasystem loans of books or other items, please use the new "Get This Item" request form on the Voyager Catalog.
  • If the material you need is not available anywhere in the UH Library System including UH Manoa, use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

How Long Does It Take?


Photocopies of journal articles and book chapters: 5 working days (average) plus transit time.

How Much Does It Cost?


Filled document requests (journal articles, book chapters) are provided at no charge.

Who May Use ISAR?


University of Hawaii at Manoa students, faculty, and staff.

How Do I Create an ISAR?

  • Search for the item you need in the Voyager Catalog.
  • Display the "Full Record" for the item.
  • Click the "Get This Item" button on the right side menu.
  • Log in and then select "UH Manoa IntraSystem Article Request" from the menu.
  • Follow the instructions provided on the form.

How Will I Know When My ISAR Item Is Available?


You will be notified by email.

How Do I Receive Document Requests?


Requests are usually delivered electronically. You will receive an email with a PDF attachment. PDF attachments may be viewed using an up-to-date Internet browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer with the Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® plug-in. If you do not already have Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® installed on your computer,

In some cases you may be required to pick up your document at the UH Manoa Hamilton Library Circulation Counter.
