Library Instruction and Information Literacy | University of Hawaii at Manoa Library
Library Instruction Mission Statement
The Library is
dedicated to the promotion of scholarship and research by providing all members
of the University community with a comprehensive program of instruction, including lectures,
demonstrations, active-learning activities, WebCT modules, and more, tailored
to meet individual and group needs at all levels. Our primary goal is the attainment
of information literacy for all students, faculty, and staff members.
The Library encourages collegiality and collaboration
between Instructional faculty and Library Reference and Instruction faculty. Instructional
faculty members are invited to work with library instruction staff in designing
course-related assignments that include information literacy objectives. The Program
incorporates a variety of teaching strategies and methodologies that reflect individual
differences in learning level, style, and culture.
