Getting Started
Options for UHM Faculty and Researchers
UHM faculty and researchers have several options for placing their collections in ScholarSpace:
- Join your Departmental Community. See the Music Department community as an example.
- UHM labs, centers, or units can create Collections. See the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit as an example.
- You can form your own Sub-community by joining other UHM Faculty and Researcher Works.
Establishing a New Community
The UHM Library will lead you through the process of building a new Community in ScholarSpace. See the steps required to establish a new ScholarSpace Community.

Creating New ScholarSpace Communities
ScholarSpace is organized into Communities, Sub-communities, and Collections. Each Community contains one or more Collections, where the digital research materials are stored as Items.
How are Communities and Collections Organized?
To add digital research materials to ScholarSpace, you add your data to a collection. Collections in ScholarSpace are always associated with communities or sub-communities, as shown in this basic view of ScholarSpace communities (PDF).
