The Statistical Abstract: The National Data Book (U.S. Census Bureau)
The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States. Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.

State and Metropolitan Area Data Book: 2006 (U.S. Census Bureau)
Features more than 1,500 data items for the United States and individual states, counties and metropolitan areas from a variety of sources. Includes a link to updated information.

State of Hawaii Data Book
The official summary of statistics on the social, economic, and political organization of the State of Hawaii. Includes links to Data Books from 1996 to the present.

Background Notes
(U.S. Department of State)
Provides facts about the land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and foreign relations of independent states, some dependencies, and areas of special sovereignty. The Background Notes are updated/revised by the Office of Electronic Information and Publications of the Bureau of Public Affairs as they are received from the Department's regional bureaus.

The World Factbook (U.S. Central Intelligence Agency)
Provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 266 world entities. Includes: maps of the major world regions, as well as Flags of the World, a Physical Map of the World, a Political Map of the World, and a Standard Time Zones of the World map.

Country Studies (Library of Congress Federal Research Division)
Covers 101 countries and regions of the world.

EIU Online
This database provides online access to Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) publications analyzing and forecasting the economic, political and business environments of almost 200 countries. Included in the library's subscription are: Country Reports (quarterly), Country Profiles (annual), Country Commerce (business & trade regulations), Country Finance (taxation & investment), Country Monitor (international executive briefing), Business Asia, Business China, Business Eastern Europe, Business Latin America. Archives go back to 1996.
