Desktop Network Services (DNS)

Eudora, Thunderbird and Other Email Programs

UH ITS no longer supports Eudora, the free version of the popular POP (Post Office Protocol) email client software from QUALCOMM, Inc. The current recommended email software client is Thunderbird (Windows) and for the Mac. DNS will install Thunderbird upon request as an option on library staff microcomputers. DNS will assist staff in configuring email programs with the correct mail server settings for accessing UH email.

DNS strongly cautions against using MS Outlook or Outlook Express because of the greater security risk with Microsoft Explorer-integrated mail clients.

Mail is generally downloaded onto the personal computer where the Thunderbird program is loaded if the POP option is used. To configure a personal computer based email client with UH Google Mail and the IMAP option - please consult the ITS Google @ UH FAQ.
