DNS will activate data jacks when there is a microcomputer ready to connect to it. In order to do this, there must be an existing "phone jack" even if there is no phone in use.If the physical jack hardware does not exist, a line has to be installed by ITS. The Library must submit a Telecomm Request to have datajacks installed (current charge is $250-$450 per "box".
In the case of PERSONAL EQUIPMENT used at work: the computer must be made "network ready" before DNS will activate a jack to which it can be connected. See the FAQ item on Personal Equipment or send email to:email@example.com if you have more specific questions.
The wireless network is maintained by ITS except in rare situations in staff areas. To access the wireless network you will need to login to the UH authentication system. If you are using a device on a regular basis that connects to the UH wireless network you can register it using the Wireless Passthrough[http://www.hawaii.edu/wireless/pt/] function offered by ITS.
