Sinclair Library Event to open 24/5 - "Ribbon Cutting" THIS SUNDAY, Nov. 5th

Effective this Sunday, Sinclair Library will be open 24/5 for the remainder of the Fall 2006 semester. In addition to lots of study, reading, and writing space and computer access to all library online services and office products, the sensational staff of Sinclair Library will also offer coffee service.

Please join us at Sinclair THIS SUNDAY, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. for the 'ribbon cutting,' light refreshments, and brief remarks from Chancellor Konan and Gregg Geary.

Due to an unavoidably long approval process for the job description for the position funded by the legislature for 24/5 in Hamilton, we will not be able to hire and train someone in time to offer extended hours at Hamilton this semester. We hope and plan to offer 24/5 in Hamilton the beginning of the Spring 2007 semester.

NOTE: From 11pm until 7:30am you must be UH-affiliated in order to enter the library. A community borrower's card [$35.00 for a semester] establishes affiliation if you do not already have a UH I.D. This verification is done for security purposes and because funding for the extended hours comes from the legislature and university specifically for UH affliated individuals, especially students.

Change in SciTech Reference Desk Hours, Effective 10/1/06

Due to the 1-year reassignment of one Science Reference librarian to the position of Collection Development Officer in the Library Administration, no new librarian hired to fill SciTech's vacancy, and no interns able to work evening hours, the SciTech department determined it must curtail its evening desk hours.

SciTech Reference desk hours will be:
Effective October 1 (until Spring Semester 2007),

Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Sunday - 1-5pm (Sunday hours will remain the same).

We are sorry to curtail our evening reference hours. We look forward to hiring and training a new librarian and/or interns to enable us to resume our regular desk hours. In the meanwhile we ask for your cooperation and understanding.
