During April 2006 the University of Hawaii at Manoa Library participated in the Association of Research Libraries' (ARL) LibQUAL+ Survey of Library Service Quality to provide feedback on library service quality. An invitation to participate in the survey was sent by electronic mail on April 3, 2006, to 2,100 randomly selected individuals believed to be affiliated with UH Manoa, including 900 undergraduates, 600 graduate students, and 600 faculty. Of the 290 Web-based surveys submitted, 276 were usable. The 276 usable surveys were completed by 59 undergraduates, 109 graduate students, 76 faculty, and 32 staff.
The survey asked questions related to three dimensions: Affect of Service, Information Control, and Library as Place. Results indicate that the Library's level of service quality is weakest in the Information control dimension and strongest in the Affect of Service dimension. The survey also invited respondents to provide open-ended comments.
