Art/Sci 2016: Where Art and Science Meet

August - December 2017

Ten scientists from the University of Hawaii partnered with ten members of the Honolulu Printmakers to share processes and insights into their respective practices. With a variety of printmaking techniques and diverse fields of science each partnership explored the relationship and met the challenge in different ways. Come check out the exhibit now on display in the Elevator Gallery in the Admin hallway, on the first floor of Hamilton Library.

The Art/Sci participants wish to thank the Honolulu Museum of Art School, Honolulu Printmakers, and Western Pacific Fisheries Council for their generous support.

The World of Miniature Books

August 2017

Come take a look at some amazing miniature books from our collection. Miniature books are generally less than 75-80mm, or less than 3 inches. Small cuneiform tablets from BCE 4,000 are considered the first miniature books. Today's miniatures are often created by calligraphers, printers, and book artists to demonstrate their skills and expertise. Stop by and check out this fascinating display in the Elevator Gallery on the first floor of Hamilton Library.
