Copyright Guidelines
The University of Hawaii at Manoa Libraries recognize and respect intellectual
property rights and therefore promote compliance with copyright law and
understanding of the appropriate use of copyrighted works.
It is the responsibility of all University faculty, staff and students to make a good
faith determination as to whether their use of copyrighted materials constitutes fair use.
The following guide has been developed to assist with the determination of fair use as it applies to placing
materials on Reserve at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Libraries.
This guide should not be construed as a substitute for legal advice, nor is this
resource comprehensive on the subject of copyright.
